My planning period is 10:30-11:15  every day.

Welcome to the Mitchell Orchestra! All students should bring their music binders to class each day and instruments should go home every day for practice. The book we use in the classroom is called Sound Innovations for String Orchestra: Book 1 for 5th grade and Book 2 for 6th grade.

Very soon, we will be up on Canvas, and you will have a link to sign in. Canvas is the website that will be updated and used this year.

Students should be practicing at least 15 minutes a day to reinforce the skills we are learning in class. 6th graders should practice at least 30 minutes per day.

Director's Background:
I have been playing the violin since I was 10 years old, and have enjoyed fiddle style playing since I was 13 - entering contests and playing at jam sessions, etc. My bachelor's degree is from Hardin Simmons University in Violin Performance, master's degree is from Sam Houston State University in Music Education, and I completed my Doctorate in Musical Arts from Boston University. I still love performing, and I am the Concertmaster for the Conroe Symphony Orchestra.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at smcmahon@conroeisd.net
